Iraq 8 Days Tour | Day 1 Baghdad

Pickup from the airport and go to the hotel

Overnight in Baghdad

Day 2 | Baghdad

Visit Liberation Square one of the main squares in Baghdad.

This square played an important role in some of the revolutions marches and uprisings that took place.

Iraq National museum one of the main museums in Iraq contains precious relics from the Mesopotamian, Persian, and Islamic civilizations.

Then we will have a short boat trip over the Tigris river and cross the river.

we will visit Al-Mutanabi street Al-Mutanabbi Street is considered the oldest cultural market for the people of Baghdad.

Al-Qishla It is one of the heritage buildings of Baghdad, which is located in the building of the Al-Muwaffaqia School. Its construction dates back to the second half of the nineteenth century AD, during the Ottoman era.

Al-Mustansiriya School is An ancient school that was founded in the time of the Abbasid state in Baghdad in 1233.

Then we will walk through the Old Bazar  And see also the copper Market.

then we will have some rest to drink the traditional Iraqi tea and Dried lime tea in Al-shabander.

It is one of the most famous old cafes in Baghdad.

Mosque Al-Kadhimiya Shrine (golden Dome): The tomb of Imam Musa al-Kadhim and his grandson. Imam Muhammad al-Jawad.

is one of the most prominent Muslims and the seventh imam of Twelver Shiites.

Iraq 8 Days Tour | Day 3 Baghdad Samarra

Martyr Monument dedicated to Iraqi soldiers who died in the 80’s Iraq-Iran war.

Iraqis today generally consider it a commemoration of all the martyrs of Iraq.

Samarra spiral minaret is One of the prominent distinctive Landmarks of Iraq,

because of its unique shape and the ascending spiral conical design.

Al burqa Palace was One of the historical palaces built by Caliph Abu al-Fadl Jaafar al-Mutawakkil.

as a palace for convalescence, rest, and recreation at the time.

Kasr Al Mashouq is An archaeological historical Abbasid palace built in the ninth century.

and one of the most important monuments in Iraq because of its archaeological value. It is the palace mentioned by historians in the name of the “Al Mashouq” which means lover.

After that, we will go back to Baghdad and visit the Ziggurat of Agarguof located in Iraq.

The cemetery also contains the grave of Lieutenant-General Sir Stanley Maude, Commander-in-Chief of the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force.

Al- Adhamiyah It is one of the mosques and historical schools in the city of Baghdad and includes the tomb of Imam Abu Hanifa al-Numan.

a jurist and Muslim scholar, and the first of the four imams among the Sunnis.

The area in the vicinity of the scene is in the name of the locality of Imam Abu Hanifa.

The teaching in the school included:

religious and legal sciences in addition to the sciences of arithmetic and the body and others.

The Abu Hanifa School of Jurisprudence is one of the oldest schools.

and is currently called the College of the Great Imam.

During the IRAQ 8 DAYS TOUR. we will also visit Ctesiphon It is considered a landmark in the history of architecture. with its massive arched design which happens to be the largest in the world of unsupported bricks.

we tour the ancient ruins of Babylon cradle of Mesopotamian civilization dated 18th – 6th BC. with the Hanging Gardens. which were supposed to be attached to the Palace of King Nebuchadnezzar. Appointed as the Seven Wonders of the Hellenic World, have a presence in various literature sources but its physical existence has never been proven

Saddam Palace nowadays Museum, is Perched on top of Babylon, as the palace was inspired by the Babylonian palace of King Nebuchadnezzar.

 Babylon Theater is One of the most important Hellenistic monuments in the city of Babylon Specialists differs in determining the date of this building.

Some of them say that Alexander the Great ordered the construction of the theatre, and some of them mention that Antiochus IV is the one who ordered it to be built for the Greek community to encourage them to hold sports.

Despite the destruction of the external structure, the Directorate General of Antiquities excavated the foundations, and then the building was completed with modern bricks over the original plan.

Borsippa Ziggurat According to the Talmud, this ziggurat is believed to be the Tower of Babel found in the Torah. It is believed that this ziggurat was for the worship of the goddess Nebu, the god of writing and wisdom by the Babylonians, who was the son of the god Marduk.

Imam Abbas shrine that contains the tomb of the-Abbas B. Imam Ali was one of the greatest Islamic and historical characters. He reflected the real brotherhood trait during  Al-Taff battle when he sacrificed himself to protect his family, in addition to granting his palms for the sake of defending the Islamic values and idealism of Ahlul-Bayt, which Yazid was seeking to alter.

Imam Hussein shrine contains the tomb of imam Hussein He is the second son of Imam Ali and the second grandson of the Messenger of Allah Muhammad after his brother Imam Hassan.

Also considered the third of the twelve imams in the Shia Muslim religion

The Al-‘alqami River   It is the river next to which Al-Abbas bin Ali was martyred on the day of Ashura

AL-Zaynabee Hill site Al-Zaynabee Hill is the place where lady Zaynab stood and cried out to her brother Imam Hussain to secure her from Ibn Ziyad’s army who had flamed the tents their family was in, however,  she did not hear any reply because the army had slaughtered her brother.

The hill sets  ~10 meters west of the holy shrine of Imam Hussain and is noticed by pilgrims through its dome and the banner that carries “Asalamo Alaikey ya Zaynab Al-Kubra”.

Al Mikhaimat  One of the archaeological sites in holy Karbala in which pilgrims receive blessings is the camp of Imam Hussain.

Since arriving of Imam Hussain and his family from Medina, Imam Hussain’s family and followers residing in the tents, where they were flamed by the followers of Ibn Ziyad.

In the present time, the location of the camp is identified through the two large blue-green domes placed above the position of the tents as well as the 11 smaller domes that surrounded it.

Day 5 | Karbala Najaf

on day 5 of our Iraq 8 Days Tour. we will visit the Razzaza Lake Sea of Salt was formed in the 1970s as a second storage reservoir to control floods on the Euphrates. Razzaza Lake is connected to Habbaniya Lake by a narrow canal running through a semi-desert.

Imam Ali’s dropper It is a water spring called the Imam Ali train station, located in the western desert of Karbala governorate It is about 28 km2 from the governorate center near Al-Razzaza Lake.

Historians say that when Imam Ali went to the Battle of Siffin, his army was thirsty, so Imam Ali found a rock in the middle of the desert, so he cracked the rock with his hand and freshwater came out of it and is still running from it until now

Al-Ukhaidir Fortress rectangular fortress erected in 775 AD with a unique defensive style. Constructed by the Abbasid caliph,  and represents Abbasid architectural innovation in the structures of its courtyards, residences, and mosque.

Ukhaidir was an important stop on regional trade routes, The complex comprises a primary hall, a large Iwan, a reception hall, and servants’ quarters, The fortress exemplifies Abbasid architecture in Iraq by demonstrating the “despotic and the pleasure-loving character of the dynasty” in its grand size but cramped living quarters.

Al-Aqiser Oldest eastern Christian its construction dates back to the fifth century AD. It is characterized by the presence of Aramaic inscriptions, in addition to the fact that the altar is directed toward Jerusalem.

 Al Tar caves Historical archaeological caves, where the use of these caves as tombs dates back to the period between the third century BC to the third century AD

Go to Najaf City

See the sunset from a high building over the Najaf cemetery(Wadi-us-Salaam) It is the most important tomb seen in the city of Najaf in Iraq, the largest cemetery in the world, containing nearly six million graves and was included in the World Heritage List.

Imam Ali holy shrine contains the tomb of’Alī ibn Abī Tālib. He was a cousin of Muhammad and later became his son-in-law. The Shias consider Ali as their first Imam, and the Sunnis regard him as the fourth Sunni Rashid Caliph

Overnight in Najaf

Day 6 | Najaf Nasiriyah

Al Kufa It is considered one of the oldest mosques in the Islamic world in 19 AH / 739 AD to be the first building in the city of Kufa, which later turned into a major Islamic metropolis and the seat of the caliphate of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib. The mosque has great sanctity for Muslims of the Shiite sect in particular. The mosque includes the tombs of many religious figures, the most famous of which is the shrine of Muslim bin Aqeel.

Al Kifl who is believed to be the biblical prophet Ezekiel, the town was once a significant Jewish pilgrimage site and home to a community of Iraqi Jews until the late 1940s.

Go to Samawah city

visit the ziggurat Uruk “Al Warka” was the first civilized city in the history of mankind around 4000 BC. During that period agricultural villages were built around the city of Uruk, and at that time it enjoyed military and economic power.

It is believed that the name of Iraq is derived from the name of this great city, and the city of Warka was the first city that was able to unite the states of the kingdoms, as its king, Lukal Zakizi, succeeded in uniting the warring kingdoms and establishing a great state whose borders are from the lower sea (now known as the Arabian Gulf) to the upper sea (Mediterranean Sea  )

we will witness the Ziggurat of Ur is the most distinctive architectural invention of the Ancient Near East. Like an ancient Egyptian pyramid, an ancient Near Eastern ziggurat has four sides and rises up to the realm of the gods. However, unlike Egyptian pyramids, the exterior of Ziggurats was not smooth but tiered to accommodate the work which took place at the structure as well as the administrative oversight and religious rituals essential to Ancient Near Eastern cities. Ziggurats are found scattered around what is today Iraq and Iran and stand as an imposing testament to the power and skill of the ancient culture that produced them.

Overnight in Nasiriyah

Day 7 | Nasiriyah Basra

Marshes of Iraq are the largest wetlands in the Middle East. They not only provide habitat to hundreds of bird and fish species, but they are also home to thousands of Marsh Arabs who are returning more and more to their historical heartland. Draining of The Marshes We stop to have some rest and drink the traditional tea and meet the locals and have some chat with them talking  old stories,  then we will take a boat trip using the old traditional boat called “shakhtura” through the maze of marshes and have the famous masgouf (fish grilled  using reeds instead of woods,) inside one of the houses build by reeds only called “almutheef”

Tree of Adam

 It is a tree that the people of the region believe grew in the place where the Prophet Adam landed on the earth and where the Prophet of God Abraham prayed.

This does not stem from Islamic beliefs. Rather, this place is frequented by many foreign Jews and Christians, and it seems that it constitutes one of their holy places.

Al-Multaqa (Meeting point )

We will see the meeting point of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet and  form Shatt al-Arab river

Go to Basra

The Imam Ali Mosque  It is the first mosque in Islam outside Mecca and Medina, built during the reign of Caliph Omar Ibn Al-Khattab and is considered one of the important areas for the Shiite community today, where they visit it and perform prayers in it, and they call it the Mosque of the Step of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib because he came and prayed there and delivered a number of sermons in it at the famous incident.

Then we will take a boat trip to Shat alarab  and see the view of Saddam Palace from the riverside

Overnight in Basra

Day 8 | Basra Baghdad

on the last day of our Iraq 8 Days Tour. we will visit Saddam Palace and  Basra Museum a museum housed in the former palace of Saddam Hussein. Its collection is related to Mesopotamian, Babylonian, and Persian civilizations, as well as the history of the city itself

Shanashel They are houses from the fragrance of the past and the charm of heritage. with heritage and cultural nature, and what made them unique is their wooden balconies decorated with skill and mastery. their large courtyards, their stained-glass windows, and their high surfaces, as most of them, are still weak. in light of the erosion of their foundations, cracked ceilings, and cracks Its walls are eroding its ornate balconies
