Day 1 | Arrive in Baghdad
Your Iraq journey begins with your arrival at Baghdad International Airport. Meet your local guide at the airport before continuing by private transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Baghdad
Day 2 | Baghdad, Ctesiphon & the Tigris
Today is dedicated to experiencing several different sides of Baghdad, from its modern public spaces and literary traditions to its historic architecture and bustling markets.
Start at Liberation Square, a prominent landmark in central Baghdad that offers an introduction to the city’s contemporary character and public life.
From here, take a short boat ride across the Tigris River before reaching Al-Mutanabbi Street. Famous for its bookshops, cafés, and connection with Baghdad’s intellectual life, the street provides a glimpse into the city’s enduring literary culture.
The exploration continues through the Old Bazaar and Copper Market, where traditional workshops, merchants, and local commerce create a distinctly old-Baghdad atmosphere.
Leave the city later in the day for Ctesiphon, the former Sassanian capital. Here, see the immense Taq Kasra arch, the most prominent surviving monument of the ancient city and an impressive testament to the engineering skills of its builders.
Return to Baghdad and visit the Imam Kadhim Shrine, an important religious landmark distinguished by its golden domes, intricate decoration, and longstanding place in Iraq’s spiritual heritage.
Overnight in Baghdad
Day 3 | Samarra & Dur-Kurigalzu
Leave Baghdad this morning and head north toward Samarra, a historic city whose importance grew considerably during the Abbasid period when it served as the caliphate’s capital.
The first stop is the Great Mosque of Samarra, best known for its extraordinary Malwiya Minaret. Its distinctive spiral form makes it one of the most recognizable monuments of early Islamic architecture.
Continue to Abu Dalaf Mosque, another major Abbasid monument in Samarra. The site is notable for its broad rectangular mosque complex and its own spiral minaret, reflecting the architectural character that developed in the city during the Abbasid era.
After exploring Samarra, begin the journey back toward Baghdad. Along the way, stop at Dur-Kurigalzu, the remains of an ancient Kassite royal city established during the 14th–13th centuries BCE. The archaeological site provides a contrast to the Islamic monuments visited earlier in the day, representing one of the much older chapters of Mesopotamian history.
