Day 2 | Baghdad
Today is dedicated to exploring the depth and character of Iraq’s capital, a city where ancient history and modern life exist side by side.
We begin at Liberation Square, one of Baghdad’s most iconic public spaces. This landmark has witnessed major political events, demonstrations, and historical moments that shaped modern Iraq, making it an important symbol of the city’s contemporary identity.
From here, enjoy a short and scenic boat ride across the Tigris River, the lifeline of Baghdad for thousands of years. Crossing the river offers a beautiful perspective of the city before arriving at the historic center.
Next, we explore Al-Mutanabbi Street, the cultural heart of Baghdad and the oldest literary market in the city. This vibrant street is filled with bookshops, street vendors, and intellectual energy, continuing a tradition that dates back centuries.
Nearby, we visit the Abbasid Palace, a striking historical structure that reflects the architectural legacy of the Abbasid era, followed by a walk through the lively Old Bazaar and the traditional Copper Market, where artisans continue to craft handmade goods using traditional methods.
A relaxing break follows at Al-Shabander Café, one of Baghdad’s oldest and most famous tea houses. Here, you will experience authentic Iraqi hospitality while enjoying traditional tea and dried lime tea in a setting filled with history and local stories.
Later, we travel to the ancient ruins of Ctesiphon, once one of the greatest cities of the ancient world and a major center of the Persian and Mesopotamian empires. Its massive arch remains one of the most impressive surviving monuments of ancient architecture.
As the day continues, we explore Al-Kadhimiya District, one of the most important religious and cultural areas in Baghdad. The district is known for its vibrant atmosphere and evening market life, and it is home to the magnificent Al-Kadhimiya Shrine, distinguished by its golden dome. This sacred site holds the tombs of Imam Musa al-Kadhim and Imam Muhammad al-Jawad, two highly respected figures in Islamic history.

Day 3 | Karbala Babylon
After breakfast, we check out and begin our journey south toward some of Iraq’s most legendary historical and religious sites.
On the way, we pass the Martyr Monument (subject to opening and maintenance conditions), an important modern landmark commemorating Iraq’s history and sacrifices.
We then continue to Babylon, one of the most famous ancient cities in the world. Dating back to the 18th–6th centuries BC, Babylon was a center of civilization, power, and culture. The site is associated with King Nebuchadnezzar and the legendary Hanging Gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
While exploring the ruins, you will experience the remains of ancient walls, gateways, and reconstructed structures that reflect the grandeur of this once-powerful empire.
Overlooking the site is the Saddam Palace, now converted into a museum. Built in a style inspired by ancient Babylonian architecture, it offers panoramic views of the historical landscape below.
From Babylon, we continue our journey to Karbala, one of the most significant religious cities in the Islamic world. After hotel check-in and a short rest, we visit two of its most important shrines.
First is the Imam Abbas Shrine, dedicated to Al-Abbas ibn Ali, remembered for his loyalty, bravery, and sacrifice during the Battle of Karbala. Then we continue to the Imam Hussein Shrine, the burial place of Imam Hussein, grandson of Prophet Muhammad and a central figure in Islamic history.
The atmosphere in Karbala is deeply spiritual, especially in the evenings when pilgrims gather from all over the world.
Overnight in Karbala
Day 4 | Najaf Ur
After breakfast, we check out and begin our journey toward southern Iraq, passing through some of the most historically significant landscapes in the world.
Our first stop is Najaf, where we enjoy a panoramic view of the Wadi-us-Salaam Cemetery, the largest cemetery in the world. With millions of graves, this vast site is not only a burial ground but also a deeply important spiritual place for many communities.
We then continue toward the ancient region of Uruk, one of the earliest cities in human civilization. Flourishing between 4000–3000 BCE, Uruk is considered one of the world’s first true urban centers and a key foundation of Sumerian civilization.
From here, we travel to Nasiriyah, where we visit the iconic Ziggurat of Ur. This massive stepped structure is one of the most important architectural achievements of the ancient world. Unlike smooth pyramids, ziggurats were built in terraces, serving as temples and centers of administration and worship in Mesopotamian cities.
The site offers a powerful connection to Iraq’s deep ancient history, standing as a reminder of one of the world’s earliest civilizations.
Overnight in Nasiriyah.
Day 5 | Marshes of Iraq – Baghdad
After breakfast and check-out, we head toward one of Iraq’s most unique natural and cultural treasures—the Marshes of Iraq.
These vast wetlands are the largest in the Middle East and are home to diverse bird and fish species, as well as the Marsh Arab communities who continue to preserve a traditional way of life that has existed for thousands of years.
Here, you will experience a traditional boat ride on a “shakhtura”, gliding through narrow waterways surrounded by reeds and floating villages. You will also visit traditional reed houses known as “al-mutheef”, where locals welcome you with genuine hospitality and share stories of their heritage.
A highlight of the visit is a traditional lunch featuring Masgouf, Iraq’s most famous dish—fresh fish grilled slowly over reeds in a traditional style unique to the region.
After this unforgettable cultural experience, we return to Baghdad for the final overnight stay.
