Day 1 | Arrival in Baghdad

Arrive at Baghdad International Airport, where our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax after your journey and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 | Baghdad’s History, Culture & Heritage

Begin your exploration of Iraq’s capital at Liberation Square, a landmark closely connected with Baghdad’s modern history and many of the country’s major public demonstrations and political events.

Continue to the banks of the Tigris River, where you’ll enjoy a short boat crossing before arriving at the famous Al-Mutanabbi Street. Known as Baghdad’s historic literary quarter, this vibrant street has been the heart of the city’s intellectual life for generations, lined with bookshops, publishers, and historic buildings.

From here, wander through the traditional Old Bazaar, passing workshops and stalls before reaching the bustling Copper Market, where local craftsmen continue centuries-old metalworking traditions.

Pause for a break at the legendary Al-Shabander Café, one of Baghdad’s oldest cafés, to enjoy authentic Iraqi tea or the traditional dried lime tea while experiencing the atmosphere that has welcomed writers, artists, and scholars for decades.

Later, visit Ctesiphon to admire the monumental Taq Kasra arch from outside the protective fence, one of the most remarkable surviving structures of the ancient Persian Empire.

As evening falls, head to Al-Kadhimiya, one of Baghdad’s most important historic districts. Explore its lively night market before visiting the magnificent Al-Kadhimiya Holy Shrine, distinguished by its golden dome and serving as the resting place of Imam Musa al-Kadhim and Imam Muhammad al-Jawad.

Day 3 | Babylon & Ancient Mesopotamia

This morning begins with a stop at the Martyr Monument, viewed from outside the surrounding fence, one of Baghdad’s most recognizable modern landmarks.

Continue south to the legendary city of Babylon, one of the greatest capitals of the ancient world. Walk among the archaeological remains associated with King Nebuchadnezzar II and discover the site linked to the famous Hanging Gardens, celebrated as one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, although their exact location has never been confirmed.

Visit the former Saddam Palace, now serving as a museum overlooking Babylon, where panoramic views provide a unique perspective across the ancient city.

After exploring Babylon, drive onward to Nasiriyah.

Before the day ends, visit the magnificent Ziggurat of Ur, one of Mesopotamia’s best-preserved monumental temples. Rising in stepped terraces toward the sky, the ziggurat stood at the spiritual heart of the ancient city and reflects the architectural brilliance and religious traditions of early civilization.

Overnight in Nasiriyah

Day 4 | The Mesopotamian Marshes

After checking out, journey into the remarkable Marshes of Iraq, the largest wetland ecosystem in the Middle East and one of Iraq’s UNESCO-listed cultural landscapes.

Spend time meeting local Marsh Arab families, learning about their unique way of life, and sharing traditional tea while listening to stories that reflect generations of life on the water.

Board a traditional wooden shakhtura boat and glide through the maze of reed channels that define this extraordinary landscape, offering a glimpse into one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited environments.

Enjoy lunch inside a traditional mudhif, a striking guesthouse constructed entirely from reeds, where you’ll taste Iraq’s famous Masgouf, freshly grilled fish cooked over reeds using time-honored local methods.

In the afternoon, return to Baghdad.

After breakfast, transfer to Baghdad International Airport for your departing flight, bringing your journey through Iraq’s ancient cities and living traditions to a close.
